In the filzquadrat collection by Studio Samira Nami, the pure wool felt rugs are reversible. In the blink of an eye you can change the mood of the room. They are screen-printed on both sides in different color combinations by hand in her design studio in Hamburg. Each rug is unique and a work of art in its own, either as a tapestry or floor covering. Each reversible rug can be combined with matching cushions and pictures, which are also produced by Studio Samira Nami.

 

All products can be individually designed on request. So the designer can work with you to match your interior and make the rug your very own. Oriental carpets in a new light - Studio Samira Nami achieves this with the filzquadrat collection. Designer Samira Heidari Nami grew up with this type of rugs and its tradition thanks to her Persian roots. The idea was born to show these conservative gems in a more modern light and to bring them into new dimensions. The design of oriental carpets is reinterpreted.

The designer develops carpets that have never been seen before. Holisticness is important to Studio Samira Nami: All objects in your room, the design, material and colors are included in the consultation and production.

Sustainability

Studio Samira Nami's rugs and cushions are made almost exclusively from sustainable products. Solvent-free dyes from Germany are used and most of the products are made of German wool felt. From design to hand-made production, everything is made in Germany.

The reversibility and variability save resources. So you basically decide on four products in one based on the variation options on the wall and floor.

Functionality

The carpets are not only eye-catching but also absolve sound well on the wall. The carpets can be turned according to your wishes and mood. This allows you to change the room atmosphere in no time at all. Whether on the floor or on the wall, you can quickly change the decor.

The flat pile makes vacuuming easier, as the dirt remains on the surface and cannot penetrate deeply.

Even a vacuum cleaner robot does not see the carpet as an obstacle due to the flat felt and the carpets are wheelchair-accessible.

The rugs are manufactured in a complex process. First, the patterns are created using design programs, then both sides of the rugs are dyed individually by hand and each side is individually screen-printed. The edges are also delicately painted by hand. 

Newcomer Nominee 2015

Samira Heidari Nami had the following idea for her master's thesis: "A beautiful and individual rug does not always have to be knotted and produced in faraway countries. It should have a function and fit in with today's modern interior design style. Also it should be customized according to the individual wishes of the customers." 

In 2015, Samira Heidari Nami, the studio's designer, was nominated for the Newcomer Award at the German Design Awards with her filzquadrat collection. A year earlier, she completed her Master of Arts in Textile Design at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg.

In 2022 she received the Carolina D'amico Newcomer Award.
